Grandma Takes A Trip :: The Collection

The Collection

Owner, Nicola Sault has been amassing a unique collection the most amazing Vintage & Retro over the last 20 years which now stands at over 8,000 pieces and is a unique chronicle of Fashion in the UK and Europe from the 1920's through to the 1990's.

Bar the overwhelming size (most comments we hear after a loud gasp and drawing of breath when people first see it are "I'm in absolute heaven"), the collection serves as a true library where you can see the shift in fashion over the last 60 years.

From the before the 2nd World War, the creativity of clothing through the those hardship of war, the celebration that the end of the war brought to the introduction of significant changes in fashion such as Christian Dior's 'New Look', Yves Saint Laurence & Rudi Gernreich's incredible creativity, Pierre Balmain's insightfulness, Chanel's femininity, the amazing skills of textile manufacturers, the skill of a seamstress that is now being lost through to the re-adaption of so many layers of style in the 80's.

The collection also documents the changes in production techniques, the increases in prints and print development that these bought and the huge array of fashion that 'society' used to be different through the 60's and 70's.

It is truly a dazzling and immersive cornucopia of fashion that serves as a living library.

Many International & Australian celebrity's have all worn clothes from the collection from Red Carpet Events through to magazine covers and even the shows they put on for their fans, something we are very proud to offer and very humbled to do.

The collection serves as inspiration for the development of the Nicola Sault Lingerie range as well as the Grandma Takes A Trip Swimwear line we will be launching in 2010 - but most importantly in provides a unique collection of how fashion has ebbed and flowed over the years and celebrates all the joy and creativity that every designer has ever added to the industry.

Nicola continues to manage and build the collection which is available to hire for the TV, Film and Magazine/Media Industry.
